Militants Attack on Security Check Post in Badakhshan, Killing 17 Soldiers and Missing 20 others

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 17 members of afghan security forces have lost their lives after the anti-government militants have reportedly attacked a security check post in northeastern Badakhshan province.

The attack took place in Wardoj District last night, said Abdullah Naji, head of the provincial council of Badakhshan province.

Naji added that nearly 20 of the security forces are also missing due to the attack.

The militants group are yet to comment regarding the incident.

Though, it comes about three weeks after a deadly Taliban attack in Wardoj’s neighboring Jurm District. 33 soldiers embraced martyrdom wounded and went missing during when Taliban militants attacked their check posts in Dahan Aab Khastak area of Jarom District on April 13.

Another deadly attack took place in a serious after Taliban announced their spring offensive on April 24.
