Mass grave containing Bodies of 60 civilians found in Mosul

A mass grave composed of 60 civilians’ bodies, including women, was found in western Mosul,” a local source from Nineveh province has said.

The bodies, including 23 women and the elderly had been killed by Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorists.

“Security troops discovered a mass grave in al-Shifa district in western Mosul,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Al Sumaria News on Wednesday.

The people were employees and lawyers as their ID cards found in their possession showed, the source added.

According to the source, Daesh shot the civilians dead in the head. They were transferred to forensic medicine department in Wadi Hajar to identify them and hand over their bodies to their relatives.

Several mass graves were found in areas of under control of Daesh since the Iraqi government, launched a major security offensive in October 2016 to recapture the city of Mosul, ISIS’s largest stronghold in the country.

However, Iraqi commanders have recently said they have at least retaken 90 percent of territories in western Mosul, predicting to retake the full city before the end of May.
