KABUL: (Middle East Press) Another man has been seriously shot by police in the United States while he was trying to buy a plane ticket at an airport in Columbus, Ohio.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon outside the departure terminal of the Columbus International Airport.

The identity of the shooting victim has been withheld.

Authorities say the man, who is from the Columbus area, tried to buy a plane ticket with a fake ID but was turned away by the airline and was reported to police.

Police said they followed the man to his car, which he had parked illegally outside the departure terminal. They began talking to him near his parked car when the victim tried to attack them with a knife.

“At this point, this was just a violent encounter between an armed man and the officers here,” said Sgt. Rich Weiner, a spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

Authorities are investigating why the man was at the airport. Weiner said there were no indications that terrorism was involved.

US police departments have been under spotlight over cold-blooded killings of minorities, including African-Americans.
