Major Security Operation Launched in Baghlan
KABUL, Oct. 17, (MOQAWEMAT) – Afghan Security and Defense Forces have announced the launch of a massive cleanup operation in Baghlan province.
The massive operation began last night from three positions of “Dand-e-Shahabuddin”, “Dand-e-Ghori” and “Kila Gaay.”
The operation will continue until the Baghlan province is completely cleared of the armed Taliban, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defense says major operations have already been launched in Badakhshan, Takhar and Kunduz provinces as a result of which many areas have been cleared of Taliban.
Dozens of armed Taliban fighters were killed and wounded in the operation, including key individuals, commanders and district shadow governors.
Baghlan, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Takhar are among the provinces that have witnessed armed Taliban raids in recent months.
