KABUL: (Middle East Press) A senior Taliban leader has been arrested by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) Afghanistan’s intelligence agency in capital Kabul.

NDS announced following a statement on Tuesday that the Taliban commander was identified as Hamidullah who is also known as Zabit Hamid.

Hamidullah alias Zabit Hamid was arrested after a gun battle with security forces from the jurisdiction of 5th police district of Kabul city, NDS said.

According to the statement Hamidullah has confessed to his crimes and that he was sent by Taliban group to target foreigners in Capital Kabul.

NDS statement further adds Hamidullah was involved in several terrorist activities in Kabul, Ghazni and Paktika province.

NDS statements usually do not contain information about the exact date of their achievements but their statement come after recent activities.
