Kabul Attack And Gunfire Ended With Three Attackers, One Policeman Killed
MEP: As a result of clashes and armed assailants attack on a hotel in Kabul’s ninth police district, three attackers, one policeman were killed and three other policemen wounded.
The attack took place in the early hours of Monday morning at around 1:10 am against North Gate Hotel.
Abdul Rahman Rahimi, Kabul Police Chief says the attackers originally detonated a truck packed with explosives near the gate of the hotel and then two attackers entered the building.
He said the other attackers hiding in the house next to the hotel and after the explosion using the darkness of the night, entered the building.
Rahimi added that security forces reached the area on time, but begun their operations after night lighting and at around 8:00 am this morning all of the attackers shot dead.
According to the police chief of Kabul, three attackers, one police were killed and three other policemen wounded in the gunfire.
The source stressed that there was no casualties to the people inside the hotel and civilians.
The armed Taliban have claimed responsibility for the blast.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, wrote in his Twitter account that the attack was carried out by members of the group in which the Afghan security forces suffered casualties.
It is noteworthy that in the wake of the conflict, the electricity was cut off in parts of the city and the DABS has said it did not manage to connect electricity due to the conflict.
The attack comes as last week a deadly suicide attack killed and injured more than 300 people after two attackers detonated explosives on protesters on martyrs square (Dehmazang).
