KABUL: (Middle East Press) Taliban militants have reportedly taken control of Jawand district in northwestern Badghis province, officials said.

The occupation took place around 02:00am local time, said head of the provincial council of Badghis province, adding that the Taliban militants have attacked the district governor’s office and police headquarters.

He added that militants have also stolen some weapons and arms.

According to him, the lives of the district governor, police chief and a number of others are in danger and they need urgent support and help.

Taliban militants have not made any comment regarding the attack so far.

Jawand is one of the most populated and largest district in Badghis which has become insecure recently due to Taliban’s deadly attack and assault.
