Israel Encourages Its Soldiers To Kill Palestinians

MEP: Assertions of some Israeli authorities show that they encourage their soldiers to kill Palestinians, even if they are not a threat,” Human Rights Watch said on Monday.

A report was released documenting numerous statements by senior Israeli officials including Army Secretary and Secretary of Homeland Security calling on police and military to use lethal force on any Palestinian citizen suspected since October 2015.

“It’s not just about potentially rogue soldiers, but also about senior Israeli officials who publicly tell forces to unlawfully shoot to kill. Israel should issue clear directives to use force only in accordance with international law,” said Sari Bashi, the occupied territories advocacy director at.

The report noted that since October 2015, there has been over 150 confirmed instances of Israeli forces lethally shooting Palestinian children and adults.

According to international human rights law the deliberate use of weapons is allowed in necessary self-defense and if there is no other way. But Israel does not follow these conditions.

“Netanyahu and Israeli officials must give public warning on using firearms,” HRW said in a statement.
