Iraqi Army Freed 1,500 Civilians From ISIL Captivity
KABUL: (MEP) Iraqi army troops have released 1,500 Iraqi civilians from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group in Hit district of western Anbar province.
Fazel al-namravi, commander of the Iraqi army said the country’s military following clearing and retaking operations of the city, has discovered a massive prison belonging to ISIL where 1,500 people were captured.
The civilians have been freed and were taken to a safe place outside the district, he added.
The operation to liberate Hit, a Euphrates Valley town, started earlier this week and is part of a wider push that includes capture of embattled Mosul, which has served as the de-facto capital of the terrorist group in Iraq.
