Human Rights Activist, Hessa Al Shaikh, Arrested for Protesting against Fatwa

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Saudi Crown Prince ordered to detain Hessa Al Shaikh who worked for Alriyadh Newspaper for publication a critical article.
Therefore the article was removed from the website of Al Riyadh newspaper and she was prevented from continuing her activities as a writer.
It is said this action was happened following Saudi Mufti’s fatwa which says women do not have to keep Iddah after the death of her spouses.
Al Sheikh’s non-Islamic fatwa has also faced with protest of other Islamic religious intellectuals in Saudi Arabia.
Yet no news of her arrest is available.
