Mass Grave Found in Iraq’s Anbar

KABUL: (Middle East Press) A mass grave of some 200 people has been found in Anbar province of Iraq, reports say.

Iraqi media on Sunday quoted Sheikh Naim al-Gaoud, the leader of Albu Nimr tribe, as saying that the grave was uncovered in the town of al-Qa’im, , near the border with Syria.

The killing was reportedly made by the ISIL Takfiri militants where they had occupied the area about a month ago.

The bodies included workers of Iraq’s interior and defense ministries as well as civilians and, he said, adding that most of the victims had been beheaded.

At least 14 mass graves have been discovered since the strategic city of Tikrit was liberated from the ISIL in late March, with Iraqi security sources saying that the mass graves contained the bodies of hundreds of Iraqi soldiers massacred by ISIL outside the northern city.
