Huge blast shakes airport in Afghan capital Kabul

KABUL: (MEP) – A large explosion shook Kabul’s international airport on Wednesday, a witness said, with police saying initial reports suggested it was an insurgent attack.

“Based on our information there was an explosion near KAIA,” said deputy Kabul police chief Sayed Ghafar Sayedzada, referring to Kabul International Airport.

The airport is home to one of the NATO-led command’s most important bases, the ISAF Joint Command, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, Reuters reported.
