Hezb-e-Islami Party Ready To Participate In Peace Talks

KABUL: (MEP) The Hezb-e-Islami party led by the notorious warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar announced on Sunday that the group is ready to take part in Quadrilateral Coordinated Group (QCG) peace talks with Kabul government.

The decision by the group was made to show peace in the country, according to a released statement by party.

The party also condemned the inclusion of the group’s two members in the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) by the United States, saying the move by the US government comes amid calls by the Afghan government to start reconciliation process.

The announcement by Hezb-e-Islami to participate in the peace talks comes as the Taliban group has rejected to take part for peace talks, insisting on group’s pre-conditions to hold talks.

Meanwhile, some Pakistani officials have assured Taliban insurgents that their demands will be fulfilled in order to participate in peace process.

Pakistani’s Express News quoted Pakistani officials in a message that they have urged Taliban to take part in the peace process to bring peace and stability in Afghanistan.

However, Taliban insurgents are yet to comment regarding the report.
