Heavy Police Casualties Feared in Daikundi

As a result of clashes between Afghan Natioal Police (ANP) and the armed Taliban in Kajran district of Daikundi province, casualties feared on both sides.

Armed Taliban on Saturday night attacked a number of security outposts in Kajran district and clashed with security forces, MEP reports

Daikundi Police Chief Mohammed Aqa Dawood says more than 100 armed Taliban fighters had attacked security posts, killing eight policemen and injuring four others.

He also confirmed that more than five armed Taliban fighters, including its commanders, had been killed in the clash.

According to the source, the Taliban attack is pushed back.

Kajran district is one of the insecure districts of Daikundi bordering Helmand province.

Armed Taliban have confirmed that the attack had seized the police outposts and killed and wounded several others.

Armed Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has denied the deaths of Taliban fighters in a post on his Twitter account.
