MEP: A reporter from the National Radio Television of Afghanistan (RTA) has been killed on Sunday evening by unidentified gunmen in Qalat city of Zabul province.
Local officials confirmed the incident in Zabul saying the armed assailants opened fire on Yaqoob Sharafat the reporter and fled the area.
According to local officials, the RTA reporter were heading towards his home along with his family from the hospital when targeted.
However, representatives of Zabul in Parliament condemned the incident and called for government to take serious action in this area and start solemn investigations.
Violence against journalists in Afghanistan is not a new issue and this comes as many journalists have already been beaten by government officials repeatedly.
