Ghani And Abdullah Meet With Presidents Of America, Poland And Azerbaijan

13613397_1026041284138780_4212348214665963808_oMEP: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chief executive officer (CEO), have held separate meetings with the Presidents of America, Poland and Azerbaijan on Friday, a statement by Presidential Palace said.

Mr Ghani and Abdullah have arrived in Warsaw the Polish capital to attend the NATO Summit on Thursday and on the second day of the visit on the sidelines of the meeting met with President Barack Obama where the leaders exchanged a number of common issues.

“According to the assessments of America’s political and military authorities on the basis of commitment to the people and government of Afghanistan, have taken the decision to extend the period of presence of American soldiers” Obama said.

The U.S. President also offered his appreciation to the national unity government for having a clear vision and strong commitment to the people of Afghanistan.

He said the gains made by the national unity government are significant adding that the international community would continue to support Afghanistan.

President Ghani on his part thanked the U.S government and people for their cooperation and welcomed the recent decision made by the U.S to keep its soldiers in Afghanistan.

Ghani meets Polish president

President Ashraf Ghani held separately talks with Andrzej Duda Polish president on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Warsaw.

Ghani praised the hospitality of Poland, called its presence within the mission “significant” and said Poland is a good partner to Afghanistan in its strong support in the fight against terrorism.

Duda hailed the recent decision made by the U.S to keep its soldiers in Afghanistan and extended the presence of 200 Polish soldiers in Afghanistan.

Leaders of the two countries have discussed various fields on the development of relations between Afghanistan and Poland.

Ghani meets Azerbaijani president

Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on the sidelines of Warsaw, also met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

During the meeting, the presidents of the two countries exchanged views on the expansion of relations and cooperation between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan.

President of Azerbaijan said “according to previous engagements and meetings with officials of the National Unity Government, Azerbaijan in the near future will present military in order to finance the Afghan security and defense forces”.

Mr Aliyev said that Azerbaijan continues the series of military cooperation with Afghanistan, in addition to repair helicopters.

Meanwhile, President Ghani praised the cooperation with Azerbaijan in various fields and noted the investment opportunities in Afghanistan, urged the President of Azerbaijan to jointly invest in the fields of cement production, increase investment in agriculture and cotton production.
