Gen Dostum’s Bodyguards Attacked by Gunmen
KABUL: (Middle East Press) A group of gunmen have reportedly attacked Afghanistan’s First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum’s bodyguards who were travelling in a convoy in northern Jawzhan province on Wednesday, officials said.
However, Dostum had not been in any of the vehicles during the attack.
One of the militants was reportedly killed and another was arrested by the security forces following the gun battle.
The attack comes as Gen. Dostum visited northern Jawzjan province to assess the security situation in northern Afghanistan, specifically the northern Faryab province where the security situation has considerably deteriorated recently.
