From Kundoz To Helmand; Is The Management Still Continues?

12721768_1118839664848619_964576746_nKABUL: (MEP) Right in the first anniversary of the National Unity Government (NUG), the first city of Afghanistan known as Kundoz fell to Taliban’s hand and left the government’s first anniversary overshadowed.

Prior to this, the Taliban were active in a number of districts freely, but for the first time managed to capture the city in the north of the country.

The fall of Kundoz province proved that defensive military policy against Taliban and relying on militias and arbaki to defend the regions, may be vilely failed and needs to be changed.

It’s correct that the brave security forces of the country after a while managed to retake the city; but the active presence of the rebels in the neighboring province of Kundoz still flushes the arson of clashes in the northeast provinces of the country.

Now after more than 5 months after the fall of Kunduz, other changes in the system or military policy has been taken; but far from Kundoz in southern Helmand.

Afghan National Army Sunday retreated from Musa Qala and Nawzad districts incredulously and unexpectedly.

This comes as heavy clashes now and in the past few days between security forces and Taliban insurgents ongoing in Sangin district of Helmand province as well as other districts.

However, its fears now the fourth round of quadrilateral negotiation scheduled to be held tomorrow in Kabul, has taken Helmand province and builds the rebel bases stronger than before.

A fresh round of quadrilateral talks in scheduled to determine “roadmap” face to face with Taliban and this requires some preconditions which fears that insurgents handing Helmand is one of the preconditions.

If it goes this way, people would face serious danger which is some kind of treason to people who have come to power with the votes of its citizens, but if the tactical retreat in Nawzad and Musa Qala on what has been said, it must be specified why this retreat has been taken in this situation and what is the main purpose of it?

The interesting point about the tactical retreat in Nawzad and Musa Qala is, that it could also be a question of the government. Why, when security forces are active in a place without costing, have to incur much time and cost to retake it.

Why something should be done without costing and having a lot of time in a way that insurgents get stronger and to sieze the important districts of Helmand easily and maneuver it and then using the wrong policy thinking to retake the outcome of the defense system.

Now the government, despite explaining from retreating in the districts, must bear in mind that Helmand will not be Kundoz and the area of the province could serve as an incentive to spend and consume too much time to recover.

On the other hand, the proximity of Helmand borders with Pakistan which itself was and is a center equipment, funding and supplies to the insurgents, reclaiming the conditions for a possible withdrawal of the military district of Kunduz will make it more difficult.

Now all participants are waiting for government officials and defense to hear their recent decision or whether based on previous statement on “management” will be of Helmand or the speech has changed.

Following the fall of Kunduz and the official attendance of Taliban insurgents in Kundoz city, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had announced that Kundoz is under management, a statement that had created questions to everyone.

This comes as military experts and analysts have repeatedly said that the military policy of the government to succeed in war, should be changed from the defensive to the offensive, something that had not been widely seen.
