Four Dead in Nepal’s Fresh Earthquake

KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least four people were killed after a strong earthquake rocked Nepal days after another quake left more than 8,000 people in the Himalayan nation.

A number of people were also injured in 7.4-magnitude quake shook the country on Tuesday.

The quake, which struck 18km southeast of Kodari, near the base camp for Mt Everest, was measured at a shallow depth of about 18km.

A spokesman for the International Organization for Migration said four people were killed in Chautara, Nepal, after the earthquake destroyed several buildings there.

According to the USGS, magnitude 5.6 and 6.3 earthquakes hit Nepal less than an hour after 7.3 tremor.

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck on April 25, killing at least 8,046 people and injuring more than 17,800.

The devastating tremor also killed more than 100 people in India and China.

According to the United Nation (UN), the quake has affected more than a quarter of Nepal’s 28 million people.
