Fire In Vietnam Karaoke Claims 13 Lives

MEP: At least 13 people were killed when a massive fire broke out at a karaoke bar in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, an official said Wednesday.

In addition, two police officers sustained injuries.

The blaze broke out at an eight-storey karaoke bar in the Cau Giay district of Hanoi on Tuesday afternoon.

It took firefighters about five hours to put out the blaze.

Online newspaper VnExpress quoted Maj Gen Doan Viet Manh of the fire department as saying that 13 bodies were recovered from the scene.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has ordered police to immediately “investigate and conclude reasons for the fire, seriously punishing wrongdoing”, according to the government’s official website.

The fire spread to three neighbouring buildings, burning a car and motorbikes on the street, the newspaper noted.
