Feroz: Special Measures Taken for Returnees from Four Countries amid COVID-19

KABUL (MEP) – The Ministry of Public Health stated that returnees from four countries were being tested under special measures, declaring there is only one positive cases of coronavirus in Herat.

People returning to Afghanistan from countries of China, Iran, Italy and South Korea, will be fully tested, said Ferozuddin Feroz speaking at a conference in Kabul.

Those returning from these four countries should be examined and quarantined for 14 days to maintain themselves and their families, Feroz added.

According to the Minister of Public Health, each coronavirus test costs $ 1500 and therefore only people who have returned from China, Iran, Italy and South Korea in the last month will be tested.

He went to say that the suspected cases are being referred to Netherlands along with the Kabul laboratory for examination.

He emphasized that only one positive case has been recorded in Herat so far and the other are tested negative

The Minister of Public Health also announced the establishment of special units for the control of the coronavirus at the Afghan Japanese Hospital in Kabul, and all air and ground fields in the provinces of Balkh, Kandahar, Herat and Nimroz.

According to the source, the Ministry of Public Health was able to spend 97% of its development budget in 1398 solar year.
