Fazlullah Wahidi Kidnaped In Pakistan

KABUL: (MEP) Afghan politician Fazalullah Wahidi, who served as governor of Kunar and Herat provinces, was kidnapped from Islamabad capital of Pakistan on Friday, according to reports.

The protocol officer at the Afghan embassy informed capital police of the kidnapping.

He was with his grandson near Rana Market when two vehicles, one a black double cabin with a blue revolving light and the other a white Toyota Corolla, stopped by him.

Three people got out of the cars and forced Mr Wahid into the double cabin before driving off. The former governor’s nephew, Syed Zabhiullah Wahidi, lodged a complaint at Kohsar police station.

A police source said the police had not been aware that the former governor was in Islamabad. He said details had been required about Mr Wahidi from the Afghan embassy, which may help identify the kidnappers.

The officials have further added that an investigation has been launched into the incidentally with operation to free the former governor.

Mr Wahidi, 66, served as governor of Kunar from November 2007 and was appointed governor of Herat in July 2013.

No group has claimed the responsibility for this incident.
