Mogherini during this trip is expected to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and other Iranian officials.

This is the second time the EU foreign policy chief visits the Islamic Republic following the conclusion in Vienna of a nuclear agreement between the country and the P5+1 group of countries — five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany – last July.

Seven EU Commissioners for Europe in the energy, trade and industry fields are accompanying Mogherini in the visit.

The leaders will discuss some key issues including enhancing EU-Tehran relations.

According to report, at least four cooperation documents in the fields of energy, industry, nuclear technology and the joint statement of bilateral cooperation will also be signed during the EU’s chief visit.
