Death Toll Rises To 60 In Damascus Multiple Explosions

KABUL: (MEP) Death toll mounted to 60 people while 110 others wounded in three bomb explosions that rocked near Sayyida Zeinab shrine in Syria’s capital, Damascus, officials said.

First blast was caused by a car bomb, occurred near the Shia Muslim shrine of Sayyida Zeinab, the granddaughter of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). on Sunday, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Later two suicide bombers set off explosives belt in the same neighborhood.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attack, according to Amaq, a news agency that supports the group.

The attack comes as representatives from President Bashar al-Assad’s regime and the main Syrian opposition are in Geneva, Switzerland, for talks aimed at ending the country’s civil war.
