Death Toll of Kabul Wedding Party Suicide Attack Rises to 80

KABUL (MEP) — The death toll in a suicide bombing at Shahr-e-Dubai wedding hall in western Kabul has risen to 80, Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI) said.

A massive deadly suicide attack took place at 10:40 am on Saturday inside Shahr-e-Dubai wedding hall in Bahadorkhan area in PD6 of Kabul city, Middle East Press reports.

A day after the incident, the Interior Ministry said 63 people, including women and children, were killed and 182 others were wounded.

But now and three days later, the Interior Ministry announces the death toll has risen to 80.

Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi told media that a number of people later died of their wounds.

The ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility for the incident, and the armed Taliban strongly condemned it.

The bloody suicide attack at the wedding party delayed the government’s celebration of the anniversary of the country’s independence and on August 19, and only a small ceremony was held.

The event generated serious domestic and foreign reactions.
