Crisis Turns Normal in Kunduz

KABUL (MEP) — Security forces have completely cleared the Kunduz city and conditions have returned to normal.

Security forces have repelled the Taliban from Kunduz city, Middle East Press (MEP) reports.

After the Taliban attack on Kunduz city yesterday, the interior ministry (MoI) says the city has been cleared by Police Special Forces, National Security Forces and ANA commandos.

Interior Ministry spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said, “To be sure, all allies and areas across the Kunduz city were cleared last night by the Police Special Forces, National Security Forces and ANA commandos.”

The situation in Kunduz is currently quite normal, said Rahimi.

Rahimi further added; the Taliban suffered many casualties, but did not provide exact statistics.

A number of civilians were killed and wounded in yesterday’s Taliban attack in Kunduz, and a suicide bomber targeting Kunduz city Police Commander and journalists, killed more than 10 people, wounded 10 others including Police Commander Manzor Stanikzai.

Meanwhile, Taliban also claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing in a square in the Kunduz city, saying they killed and wounded a number of security forces in the attack.

The attack took the acting Minister of Defense, Asadullah Khalid, acting Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi and the commander of the foreign forces in Afghanistan, Scot Miller to the Kunduz city.
