Omar Zwak, spokesman for the governor of Helmand province told Middle East Press the attack was launched Wednesday morning.
According to him, severe clashes between security forces and the attackers began that lasted for nearly eight hours.
“The insurgents attacked the district from the surrounding houses after failing to enter the district’s building,” Zwak added.
The governor’s spokesman said the attack came to an end by killing eight attackers and one policeman and wounded three other policemen.
According to the source, the attack caused a little damage to the building and researches have been initiated on how the attackers began the attack.
Taliban insurgents claimed the attack by publishing a statement, saying their people clashed with security forces.
