Contradictory Reports Show Taliban Capture Parts Of Kunduz

MEP: There are contradictory reports about the fall northern Kunduz city to the hands of the armed Taliban and the group claimed that they control central of the city but the Afghan security officials denied Taliban claims.

The armed Taliban launched its massive attacks against the city from several positions since Monday morning.

Local sources say fighting around the city continues, but some reports indicate that the center of the city of Kunduz, has collapsed to the Taliban.

Security officials in Kabul also reject the fall of the city by the Taliban saying, heavy clashes continue around the city and the military operations have been slow due to Taliban’s being located in residential areas.

The government forces are trying to push back the armed Taliban’s attacks.

According to recent information, the security forces have begun to regain lost grounds with launch of air support from foreign forces and its said the Taliban have fled some areas.

Meanwhile, Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, Vice-President went to the military Coordination Center of the Ministry of National Defense to lead the military operations against the Taliban.

Dostum has said that within the next two days would en route to Kunduz, and to destroy the terrorists will fight on the front lines with them.
