Clashes In Salang Between Taliban And Security Forces Ended

Salang_tunnel_entranceMEP: Clashes between security forces and armed Taliban in South Salang district in northern Parwan province, ended after a few minutes, officials said.

Wahid Siddiqi, spokesman for the governor of Parwan told the Middle East News Agency the clashes erupted at around 10:00 am when Taliban opened fire on vehicles of passengers and later faced with security forces resistance near the Salang Tunnel.

Siddiqi said the clashes ended after 15 minutes and the armed Taliban fled into the mountains of Ghorband.

“A civilian passenger was superficially wounded during the shooting” Siddiqi added.

According to the source, security forces had blocked the highway to traffic due to security concern but now the traffic is flowing normally.

The anti-government armed Taliban did not comment on the report so far.
