Chicago Police Release Video Shooting Teenage

9032842MEP: An independent police review panel in Chicago has released a video showing an unarmed black teenager Paul O’Neal has been chased and shot by Chicago police officers in what the Police review agency chief described it as “shocking”.

In the video released on Friday, several officers are seen pursuing 18-year-old O’Neal through a back garden and over a fence in a residential neighbourhood while several shots ring out.

It does not show the gunfire that killed O’Neal, who was wanted on suspicion of car theft, but shows the events leading up to and after the fatal shooting and the teen bleeding on the ground.

O’Neal’s mother, Tanisha Gibson, filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit against the Chicago PD on Monday, accusing the officers of shooting her son “without legal justification,” the Chicago Tribune reported.

Police said O’Neal stole a car on 28 July, leading to a police chase.
