Cavusoglu’s Remarks On Bin Nayef’s Trip To Turkey

MEP: Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu yesterday on the sidelines of the German politicians’ visit to the Union of European Turkish Democrats, regarded Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Nayef’s trip to Turkey as an apology to President Erdogan for the role of one of the Saudi state organ in the Turkish failed coup.

Prior to Muhammad bin Nayef’s travel to Turkey for visiting the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, yesterday on the sidelines of a group of German politicians’ visit to UETD, in response to the question about the details of the royal visit, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish Foreign Minister considered the trip as an apology to president Erdogan for one of Saudi state organ’s role and some of its princes’ involvement in the Turkey attempted coup.

“Since the failed coup, when the relations between the two countries have been partly strained, it is for the first time that Saudi officials make visit to Turkey. They will hold wide-ranging consultations with the president to keep in view the ties between the two countries,” he said.

The day after the failed coup attempt, voices emerged claiming that United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia could have been behind the anti-government uprising on 15 July 2016.

The Crown Prince and the Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Nayef, will travel to Turkey on Thursday this week. The Crown prince will be accompanied by several high-ranking Saudi officials including Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and Majid Al-Qassabi, Minister of Commerce and Investment.
