Carter: Afghanistan Still Remains A Dangerous Country

Ashton Carter says Afghanistan is still a dangerous countryMEP: After killing of an American soldier in Helmand province, United States Secretary of Defense claimed that Afghanistan is still a dangerous country.

As a result of an explosion yesterday evening a serving US soldier was killed and a number of Afghan police forces as well as another US soldier were wounded in Helmand.

In this regard, a few hours after the incident, Ashton Carter has pointed to the rising death toll in Afghanistan and said “the figures show that Afghanistan is still a dangerous place.”

According to him, the “tragic” incident indicated that Afghanistan still remains a dangerous region despite progress in security forces work, hard work is ahead.

Meanwhile, Carter referred to continued cooperation of Washington with Kabul, saying the US will however stand by Afghanistan until its defense and security forces capacity increase.

So far, 11 US troops have been killed in battle with the armed opposition since 2014 after the end of US forces combat mission.

Remarks by US Secretary of Defense came as large number of security forces in the fight against the armed Taliban and Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) terrorist group lose their lives daily but no reaction is seen from the foreign countries.

Apparently, a US soldier’s blood is “stronger” than the blood of an Afghan soldier and citizen.
