Car Bomb Blast Rocks Paktia, Killing at Least 5

KABUL (MEP) – According to preliminary statistics, at least five people were killed and 19 others were injured after a car bomb attack targeted an ANA base in central Gardez city of Paktia province.

At around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14, a car bomb blast hit near an ANA base in Gardez, officials said.

A spokesman for the ANA 203rd Corps, Emel Khan, said an explosives-loaded Mazda vehicle went off before reaching the central station in the base.

According to him, preliminary statistics show that five civilians were killed and 19 others were injured.

Emel Khan said there was a possibility of a rise in casualty’s toll.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it targeted the ANA base.
