Capital Kabul Approaching State of Emergency as Coronavirus rages

KABUL (MEP) – The Ministry of Public Health reported the registration of 18 new coronavirus COVID-19 infections across Afghanistan, most of which are in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

A spokesman for MoPH, Wahidullah Mayar said on Saturday that during the past 24 hours, 18 new positive coronavirus cases were recorded in Afghanistan.

According to MoPH spokesman, from the total number of cases in the country, 11 were confirmed in Kabul, two in Samangan and five in the provinces of Faryab, Kunduz, Balkh, Ghazni and Logar.

A total of 299 people have contracted the coronavirus since last night in Afghanistan, with Herat and Kabul in highest risks. Reportedly, 10 people have recovered and 6 have died due to the virus.

Meanwhile, many cities are quarantined to halt the spread of the coronavirus.
