Canadian Police Kill ‘Terror Suspect’ After Raiding House
MEP: Police in Canada have shot dead a terror suspect in an anti-terror operation in the province of Ontario, media reports say.
CBC News said on Thursday that Aaron Driver, 23, was killed by police at a house in Strathroy, a town about 225km west of Toronto, after he detonated a device that injured himself and another person.
The suspect, who was well known to Canadian intelligence and police as a Daesh (ISIS/ISIL) sympathizer, died inside a house on Wednesday.
“The safety and security of Canadians is of the utmost importance to the RCMP and we take all such threats seriously,” a statement by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said, adding that, “This is still an unfolding matter.”
CBC News said Aaron Driver’s family had confirmed his death.
