Bus Coalition Leaves 1 Dead, 36 Injured In Salang Pass

bus-overturned_1575917iKABUL: (MEP) At least 36 people have been wounded and another killed when a bus collided at Salang highway in northern Kabul city, officials said.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the bus ran off the road and faced the mishap in Awlang area of Salang Pass that connects most of the provinces in the north to the capital.

Mehrabuddin Safi, the provincial traffic manager in Parwan said the only immediate death in the accident was a woman.

The injured people had been admitted to hospitals and that seven of them were in critical condition.

The bus was heading towards Kabul, according to reports.

The cause of the accident was not immediately cleared, however, as snow has started piling up in the mountainous area as Afghanistan embraces annual winter period.

Salang highway is considered one of the most risky roads in the country.
