Brussels Declares Three-Day Mourning As Death Toll Rises To 34, 250 Wounded In The Attacks

5FA71F2C-7B81-4C51-95EE-152C2631D9DA_w640_r1_sKABUL: (MEP) Brussels announced three days of national mourning following a series of bomb attacks in the capital, Belgium as death toll raised to 34 with some 250 others wounded.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the bombings at Airport and Maalbeek metro station.

Brussels Mayor Yvan Mayeur said 20 people had died and more than 100 were wounded in the subway blast. Rescue workers set up makeshift first aid centers in a nearby pub and hotel.

Police are continuing a huge manhunt for suspects caught on CCTV shortly before two bombs exploded at Zaventem airport on Tuesday morning.

A picture was taken from a CCTV camera in the airport showing three men pushing airport carts with suitcases past the check-in area. At least one of the bombs is believed to have been hidden inside a suitcase.

Belgian police have identified the two other suspects as the bombers who died in the blasts.

Officials at the airport said that police discovered a Kalashnikov assault rifle and an explosives-packed vest abandoned at the facility. Bomb disposal experts dismantled the explosive device, which will provide a potential lead for forensic investigators.
