Breakneck Situation in Balkh

After tensions on appointment of new police commander in Balkh province which is considered opposite to Ata Mohammad Noors obligation, today in the province, especially in Mazar Sharif breakneck and emergence situation has been announced.

According to the Middle East Press; based on the political agreement between Ata Mohammad Noor and the Presidential ARG, providing his dismissal from Balkh Governorship, the police chief and some other institutions must be run by Noors trusted men.

However, the central government and MoI issued a decree appointing Abdul Raqib Mobarez, instead of Muhammad Akram Sama, as the new Police commander of Balkh Province, which faced Noors reaction.

Mr. Noor, in a statement, said that “citizens of Mazar-e-Sharif are informed that today, please not to attend their duties.”

He has asked markets owners and shopkeepers, in order to keep themselves and citizens safe, they must keep their markets and shops closed.

According to Noor, ARG has held up new impulses to undermine people`s calm and security which violate the recent agreement and has devastating plans for the people.

CEO of Jamiat-e Islami said “Please stay in your homes until dilemma is resolved.”

He said the Balkh Police Chief has been appointed on the basis of a political agreement and he will not let him to be dismissed.

Accordingly, reports from Mazar-e Sharif city indicate that the city has become a military city and the shops and markets are closed.

Fear and fight are also seen among Mazar-e-Sharif citizens. Because of being safe, they are maintaining their security personally in homes.

Eyewitnesses say that the supporters of Ata-Mohammad Noor are rolling armed and militarily and that MoI officials are not allowed to abandon city via Mazar-i-Sharif airport.
