Bomb Blast Kills 5, Injures 22 In Northern Iraq

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Powerful bomb blast left at least five civilians killed and injured nearly 22 others in Iraq’s northern province of Kirkuk.

The incident occurred at around 9.30 p.m. when the bomb explosion targeted the funeral of a pro-government volunteer fighter slain during fighting with Takfiri ISIL militants.

A local security source said on condition of anonymity, people were attending the funeral in the provincial capital city of Kirkuk, when the bomb detonated and left heavy casualties, Arabic-language Kirkuk Now news agency reported.

The source added that security forces have immediately reached the area and launched an investigation into the incident.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing, but such attacks are usually blamed on Takfiri ISIL terrorists.
