Boat Collision Kills 20 on Nile in Egypt

38E4234D-6B20-4ADB-A7A6-C035026BA7FD_cx0_cy4_cw0_mw1024_s_n_r1KABUL: (Middle East Press) At least 20 civilians were killed after a passenger boat on which they were traveling collided with a cargo boat on the Nile near the capital Cairo, Egypt’s Interior ministry announced Wednesday.

The ministry said the collision damaged the passenger boat, causing it to sink and six people have been rescued so far.

According to local reports, there were at least 30 people celebrating a wedding ceremony on the vessel when the boat capsized late on Wednesday.

The victims are mostly relatives and there are women and children among them.
