As Peace Talks Continue in Qatar, U.S. and Pak Leaders Met in Switzerland

KABUL (MEP) – Although US special envoy for Afghan peace, Khalilzad continues negotiations with Taliban representatives in Qatar, US president and Pakistani PM discussed Afghan peace in Switzerland.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan met US President Donald Trump at the bylines of World Economic Forum (Davos Summit) last night.

Addressing Afghan issues in bilateral talks, Pakistani PM Khan called for the start of peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban.

He emphasized that his country, along with the United States, shared views on Afghan peace and would continue to do so.

Imran Khan reiterated that the issue of Afghanistan’s peace has concerned Pakistan and the US, therefore he called for a dialogue between the Afghan government and the Taliban.

The statements comes as Taliban has repeatedly rejected holding talks with Afghan government.
