Armed Taliban Seizes Security Post In Faryab, Killing Four Policemen

MEP: At least four security forces were killed and a security outpost was captured by armed Taliban after they have launched a coordinated attacks on Khwaja Sabz Posh district in Faryab province, police said on Thursday.

Mir Amanullah Zafir, Faryab police chief security officer in talks with Middle East Press confirmed the report saying the incident occurred last night in the village of Sheikh-e Abad.

Efforts are underway to send reinforcements to the area, and operation also began to purge the Taliban, he added.

The report comes as authorities three days before warned of the fragility of the situation in the district and were called for reinforcements, which they say the reinforcements have not been reached to the area so far.

Previously, members of the Faryab provincial council had also raised concerns of negligence on the part of non-completion of the security forces in the districts of the province.
