_88755435_88755434KABUL: (MEP) At least 34 people have been killed and some 125 others wounded after a bomb blast rocked the center of the Turkish capital of Ankara on Sunday evening, local sources say.

The blast, which could be heard several kilometres away, sent burning debris showering down over an area a few hundred metres from the justice and interior ministries, a top courthouse, and the former office of the prime minister.

The suicide car bomb took place at 6:43 pm local time (16:43 GMT), in Guven Park in the Kizilay district, a key transport hub, according to reports.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility; however, a Turkish security official as saying that initial findings suggest that the bombing was carried out by the Kurdish militant group Kurdistan Workers’ Party, also known as the PKK, or an affiliated group.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Efkan Ala said an investigation would conclude on Monday and those responsible would be named.

President Tayyip Erdogan vows revenge

Mr Erdogan said in a statement that terror groups were targeting civilians because they were losing the battle against Turkish security forces.

“These attacks, which threaten our country’s integrity and our nation’s unity and solidarity, do not weaken our resolve in fighting terrorism but bolster our determination,” he added.

The deadly explosion came just less than a month after a car bomb attack in central Ankara killed 29 people. Kurdish militants claimed responsibility for that attack.
