And Now the Ministry of Disaster!

084AC7D9-9FAD-44DE-AEB5-F22F9DDB5A62_mw1024_s_nKABUL: (Middle East Press) With the decision of the presidential Palace, the department of natural disasters was upgraded to the ministry of natural disasters with large organization.

Wais Ahmad Barmak has been appointed as the minister for the new ministry Wednesday morning.

In the introduction ceremony of minister of natural disaster, the second deputy of President Sarwar Danesh said that Afghanistan is a disaster prone country that needs vast and systematic organization.

He added that the operation of the new ministry has to be extended and that it should receive all possible support.

Barmak has previously served on several government posts, including Senior Advisor to the Department of Disaster Management and Preparedness in Afghanistan (ANDMA) and different posts at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).

He has also served on other posts with government and international organizations including the United Nations.
