Afghan Special Forces Capture Taliban Drone

KABUL (MEP) – In a targeted operation, NDS Special Forces discovered, captured a Taliban commander’s ammunition depot in the Bati Kot district of Nangarhar province.

The operation was carried out on the ammunition depot of Abdul Fattah, known as “Patang”, a former Taliban commander who had been killed earlier, National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a newsletter Wednesday, June 10.

A drone, a rifle and other light and heavy weapons, were seized by security forces in the operation, according to the statement.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) says two people, Gholam Mohammad, son of Haji Mohammad Hassan, and Rozi Khan, son of Abdul Fattah, who were in charge of guarding depot, have been arrested.

The newsletter did not mention how or when Taliban commander Patang was killed.

The Taliban’s acquisition of the drone has been a major challenge for Afghan security forces in confronting the group’s fighters, and the new operation has hardly harmed the group’s activities.
