Afghan second vice president to investigate the Ghazanfar Group controversy

KABUL: (MEP) – President Hamid Karzai has ordered his Second Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili to investigate the accusations against the Ghazanfar Group of unfair trade practices, TOLO reported.

According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), 21 oil importing companies have raised objections against Ghazanfar Group’s refining practices. The Chamber has alleged that the oil refinery owned by Ghazanfar Group does not have the capacity to process the semi-refined crude oil it imports. Tolo News reports that the Group adulterates its oil with stabilizer material that allow it to sell its products at prices far below the market average.

Mr. Khalili will conclude his investigation and put the controversy to rest by the end of this week.

“President Karzai has ordered the Second Vice-President to investigate the issue between Ghazanfar Group and the Association of Oil Importers,” Tolo News quotes Khalili’s spokesperson Abas Basier, “We will hold a meeting this week in Kabul.”
