Afghan Policeman Executes Wife in Herat

KABUL: (Middle East Press) A woman has been killed by her husband who was a policeman in western Herat province, local officials said on Saturday.

A security official who spoke on condition of anonymous said that the incident took place in Chahar Bagh Firoza area of Anjil District on Friday morning.

He said that Abdul Rahman used to beat up his wife Laili several times and then killed her, adding that Abdul Rahman is now arrested and is currently under in police custody.

The cause behind the incident is unknown yet but an investigation has been launched, Rahman said.

Herat is one of the provinces in the western part of Afghanistan where violence cases against women as well as children happen more.
