KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of the Parliament) approved national budget on Wednesday for the current fiscal year of Afghanistan which begun on 22nd December 2014.
Initially, the House had rejected the budget for what they called “unfair and unbalanced” fund allocations.
Furthermore, the House rejected former President Hamid Karzai’s decree to pay the salaries of his advisers for five years after the end of their tenure.
However, an Afghan lawmaker said last week that the draft budget was revised by the Ministry of Finance by incorporating sufficient changes before forwarding it the Lower House.
The draft budget for the current fiscal year is 436.17 billion AFN, which includes 283.48 billion AFN for the regular budget and 152.68 billion AFN for development budget.
Previously the draft budget was estimated to be around 458.8 billion AFN, which includes 275 billion AFN for the ordinary budget and 183 billion AFN for development budget.
The approved budget now includes all the incomplete projects; however, no new development project has been considered for the next year.
