Afghan-Iranian Presidents Discuss Issues On Phone Call

IMG10331732MEP: President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani had a phone call conversation on Wednesday.

In this telephone conversation the two leaders congratulated each other Eid Al-Fitr and in relation to the goodwill of Afghanistan, Iran and Islamic countries have discussed their problems.

Iran’s president urged to begin negotiations on water management and strategic partnership between the two countries.

President Ghani said “we are ready to negotiate on the talks between Afghanistan and Iran based on cooperation agreements under the six-month package”, adding that “Afghanistan’s western border security problems must first be solved”.

Ashraf Ghani said that Afghanistan and Iran need to make sure that relations between the two countries is only between governments. He added that relations with non-governmental groups in conflict to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region, then these issues must first be clarified.

Ghani said “Afghanistan and Iran are two friendly and brotherly countries and I as the President of Afghanistan for further expansion of relations between the two countries will try”.
