Afghan, Iranian and Pakistani Finance Minister Meet to Discuss Economic Cooperation

KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan Finance Minister Dr. Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal met with his Pakistani and Iranian counterparts, Ishaq Dar and Ali Tayebnia respectively, to discuss economic and trade cooperation.

Dar and Zakhilwal conferred on next month’s Joint Working Group meeting, due to be held in Kabul.

The two finance ministers were confident that they would be able to make decision at the meeting on issues like Jalalabad-Torkham Road, railway link up to Landi Kotal, CASA 10000 and Afghan Transit Trade Agreement, Wadsam reported.

In a separate meeting between Dar and Tayebnia, the two parties discuss local trade within the framework of international sanctions imposed on Tehran over the nuclear issue. They also discussed how Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline could be finance in view of sanctions.

Dar also met with the President of Japan International Cooperation Agency Akihiko Tanaka and briefed him about the development plans of the government and appreciated Tokyo’s assistance in Pakistan’s economic development.
